Shelita Dattani Appointed to CCCEP Board of Directors

December 19, 2018 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Effective December 11, 2018, Shelita Dattani, Director of Practice Development and Knowledge Translation at the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP). Dr. Dattani replaces Phil Emberley who served as the CPhA representative to the Board from 2009 to 2018.

In addition to her work with the CPhA, Dr. Dattani maintains a part-time practice in community pharmacy and remote hospital telepharmacy. She received her bachelor of science in pharmacy from Northeastern University and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked in numerous practice settings including hospital, community, academic, GPO (group purchasing organization) and industry in the US and Canada where she has led dynamic teams towards excellence in effective and safe best medication practice. Dr. Dattani has also held teaching appointments at the University of Ottawa and has precepted students at the University of Waterloo and University of Toronto.

Dr. Dattani said that “I have heard good things about the CCCEP Board and feel it will be a great place to develop my governance knowledge and skills, as this is an area I want to develop. Also, I am looking forward to exchanging ideas and information with the other Directors and I am looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to future directions of continuing professional development in pharmacy in Canada.”

CCCEP’s President Michelle Wyand stated that “Dr. Dattani brings a wide range of education and experience that enriches the exceptional mix of educational and professional backgrounds of the Board of Directors. She has some unique experiences that will definitely enhance our deliberations. We are looking forward to her becoming a member of the CCCEP team.”


The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) is a national organization established to accredit continuing pharmacy education programs intended to be delivered to pharmacy professionals from more than one province or nationally.

CCCEP accreditation is recognized by the pharmacy regulatory authorities in all provinces and territories of Canada.
