New Appointments to the Board of Directors

October 11, 2022, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador – The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) appointed two new Directors at its recent meeting. Effective September 27, 2022, Anastasia Shiamptanis was appointed to the Board of Directors of CCCEP as the representative for the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists, and Lois Battcock was appointed as the representative for the Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators Association.  

Anastasia Shiamptanis is the Registrar and CEO of the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists.  Prior to this role, Anastasia led the development and implementation of key strategic priorities at the Ontario College of Pharmacists including scope of practice changes and a medication safety program. Anastasia has been an Assistant Professor at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto and has held leadership roles in hospital and community pharmacy settings. She replaces Katrina Mulherin, who had served on the Board of Directors since 2016.

“I am pleased to be joining the Board of Directors of CCCEP and look forward to working alongside the other Directors, some of whom have been guiding this organization for many years” said Ms. Shiamptanis, noting that “I hope I can bring new insight to assist the Board in continuing to capably fulfill its mandate”.

Lois Battcock is currently the Director of Operations (covering Newfoundland and Labrador and a portion of Nova Scotia) for a pharmacy chain, and an instructor at a private college in St. John’s NL for a pharmacy technician training program where she once served as program coordinator. Ms. Battcock has previously worked in both hospital and community pharmacy. She replaces Asfiya Rahman, who had served on the Board of Directors since 2019.

“I am excited to join the Board of Directors of CCCEP!” said Ms. Battcock, noting that “I look forward to bringing my background and experience to the table, as well as learning from the other professionals that are part of this Board”.

CCCEP’s President Ashifa Keshavji welcomed Anastasia and Lois to the Board, noting that “We look forward to the new ideas and perspectives they will bring to the Board as we reflect on our current and future directions”.  She also thanked Katrina Mulherin and Asfiya Rahman for their dedication to CCCEP and their thoughtful and important contributions during their time with the Board.
