Dr. Phil Emberley appointed to CCCEP Board of Directors


March 2, 2021, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador – The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) appointed a new Director at its recent Board meeting. Effective February 23, 2021, Phil Emberley was re-appointed to the Board of Directors of CCCEP as the representative for the Canadian Pharmacists Association.  Dr. Emberley replaces Shelita Dattani who has represented the college since December 2018.

Dr. Emberley is the Acting Director, Professional Affairs at the Canadian Pharmacists Association. Phil obtained his B.SC. (Pharm) from the University of British Columbia, his MBA from McMaster University and his PharmD from the University of Washington. He has extensive experience in health policy, having worked with as a consultant with the Ministry of Health Services, Government of British Columbia.  Dr. Emberley previously served on CCCEP’s Board of Directors previously from 2009 to 2018, including a two-year term as President.

“I am excited to return to the Board of Directors with CCCEP, re-connecting with this dedicated and passionate group of individuals from across Canada and to once again be involved with the organization as a Board member,” said Dr. Emberley.

CCCEP’s President Ashifa Keshavji agreed with Dr. Emberley’s sentiment, noting “It is such a pleasure to serve with this incredible group of individuals. We welcome Phil back to our Board table, and the wealth of knowledge and past experience that he brings. We also thank Shelita Dattani for her time with the Board during which she helped advance numerous important initiatives.”


The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) is a national organization established to accredit continuing pharmacy education programs intended to be delivered to pharmacy professionals from more than one province or nationally.

CCCEP accreditation is recognized by the pharmacy regulatory authorities in all provinces and territories of Canada.
