Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy

June 15, 2018

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP), I wish to advise you of the retirement of Dr. Arthur (Art) Whetstone from his position as Executive Director in early 2019.

In the 12 years since Art began his tenure as CCCEP’s Executive Director, his work and dedication contributed to significant growth for the organization. While too numerous to list them all, some of his key achievements include: the introduction of accreditation of certificate-level programs and competency-mapped accreditation; major reforms of CCCEP Standards of Accreditation in 2012 and 2016; the expansion of CCCEP accreditation to pharmacy technician learning activities in 2010; and the introduction of a customer service approach for learning activity providers as well as a volunteer recognition system that resulted in a satisfaction rating of 95%  and 90% respectively. As a Board, we cannot fully express our appreciation for Art’s leadership to strengthen our business operations and to increase our recognition within Canada’s pharmacy community.

It is our intention to begin the recruitment process for a new Executive Director in September 2018. We are grateful that Art has agreed to remain in his role into early 2019 to facilitate the transition to his successor.

Please join myself and all members of CCCEP’s Board of Directors in extending our very best wishes to Art as he prepares to enter retirement. We will forever value his contributions toward the advancement of quality continuing pharmacy education for Canadian pharmacy professionals.
